Why is the Antarctic lower Stratosphere getting colder?
It appears from Australian ABC News & other similar reports about the Ozone Hole that seemingly year on year it's getting bigger & this is happening because the lower stratosphere is getting colder. Please explain why the Antarctic lower Stratosphere is getting colder & please back up your view with science/data links if possible. Thank you.

Ozone layer hole reaches record size (Oct 4, 2006) 'The hole in the ozone layer above Antarctica has beaten the record size logged six years ago, the United Nations' weather agency says. "This is the most serious on record," Mark Oliver, spokesman for the World Meteorological Organisation, said. "It has been caused by a particularly cold stratospheric winter."

Antarctic ozone hole biggest on record (Oct 20, 2006) 'This year's ozone hole over Antarctica is bigger and deeper than any other on record, US scientists say. Temperature variations in the Antarctic stratosphere causes the severity of the ozone hole to vary from year to year. Colder temperatures result in larger and deeper ozone holes, while warmer temperatures lead to smaller ones. This year, the lower stratosphere was about five 5 degrees Celsius cooler than average.'

According to the met office site below the cause of temperature variation and the effect on the stratosphere can be explained as follows:
"This can be due to a variety of reasons many of which are natural and not connected with ozone depletion arising from human activities. For example, in the lower atmosphere persistent anticyclonic conditions commonly lead to a reduction in ozone concentrations at heights between 8 and 12 km. This can lead to a significant decrease in the total ozone. In the lower stratosphere the passage of a cold trough is often associated with a temporary reduction in total ozone. Vertical movements associated with the trough tend to bring in air which has relatively low ozone concentrations and so total ozone is reduced."
So it can be seen that it is the temperature which affects the ozone not the ozone that affects the temperature.

If Uranium has a half-life of 760 million years, I don't think that is clean! I have spent time in central Australia with the indigenous people there who are still suffering sickness & dislocation from nuclear testing in their lands, and others who have their waters polluted by tailings from existing uranuim mines. http://www.iratiwanti.org/

I dont need solar panels on my home, the power company pays for the energy to be generated at a solar "farm".This is truly easy, non-greenhouse gas producing, actually "clean" energy. Why is there no 7 0r 10 Digital chanels in Western Australia?
So I just got a set top box.
I have ABC, ABC2, SBS and SBS News all on HD, and they look crisp.
But I havent got 7 (GWN) or 10 (WIN).
Why? And when will we ever get HD chanels fron 7, 9 or 10?
It is not the antenna.
WA is left behind in those areas.
You may need to re-install the existing antenna or even upgrade it.
The cheapest and most effective way to fix your problem is to contact your local antenna installer and ask him to do an "electronic survey" for you.
This will tell you if you can receive the digital signal for those channels or not.
Digital is a lot more sensitive then analogue TV.
Hope this helps you out.
