Seems to me that those who endorse absolutism are not limited to those with religious inclinations.
But I do agree with your observation that those who are leaders in Islam desire to be absolutist's more than those of any other faith!
Christendom lost most of it's absolute control over it's subjects, following the plague of 1500's, and the Protestant movement that coincided with the invention of the printing press.
Who thinks IRAN is a threat to our very existence?
I think Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is an absolutist and autocratic who is capable of wrong-doing. He stated that he wants Nuclear so he can have power generators in his country and plus he has publicly stated how he hated Isarel. I don't know but something bad is brewing there in IRAN.
He is himself dangerous...but if he gets (has actually) under-the-table oil deals with Russia and China, we've got a GIANT mess on our hands.
