How hard is it to be accepted to the Music Academy of the West?
I have played cello for 8 years, and am currently a freshman in college. Do you think I have a shot?

go for it! you have nothing to lose!

Anyone been to the Academy of Music in Philadelphia?
I'm thinking about buying tickets for Rent however, I need to know how far away the Family Circle seats would be. Any information? Is it actually really difficult to see the stage or is it fine?

I have seen numerous shows there, and have performed on the stage even more times (former member of the Philadelphia Opera Chorus). Family Circle is, I believe the third balcony. Things may be different for a show like Rent (that will be amplified) but in the Academy, the higher up you are the better the sound. Unless the seats are marked obstructed view, you should have no problem. If your seats are all the way to the side, you will loose some of the sides of the stage. I will copy a web page that shows the seating arrangement of the Academy of Music. https://tickets.kimmelcenter.org/tickets/syos.aspx?perf=3639 Really, there isn't a bad seat in the house...

I m MPA(vocal)goldmedalist, should i apply in colleges for leturership or start a music academy at my
Did my MPA(masters of performing arts)frm M S University,Baroda,Gujarat. At present giving vocal performances(Light & classical)less frequency of the number. As well as taking private tutions at home and going outdoors to teach vocal music in Schools, clubs etc as apart of summer camp activities.I have full furnished home(2-kitchens,6rooms)We r 3 members,i and my parents and one pet.

A few thoughts for you.... -what age group do you like to teach? -do you want to go on in performance? if you like teaching younger kids then private lessons, or working with a local music academy, or starting one, is the way to go. this also allows you to teach all ages... if you like teaching college age kids and adult, then getting on at a college is a good idea... Also, if you want to teach the finer points of interpretation, college is better... Most people wanting to learn about 'how to sing baroque/lieder/operatic arias' will go on to college... most people in private music lessons, or public school, only want to learn to sing fairly well... Both are very good, and have their place, and can be enjoyable! which would you enjoy more? If you want to go on in performance, do you have a plan for how to build that up? Which would fit better? Do you sing with any vocal groups? Is there an existing music school that you could work with for a while to see how you like that? Are you rooted where you are? Would you consider going to another country to teach? I ask because there may be colleges or school looking for teachers of voice and interpretation where you could further broaden your musical knowledge, as well as gain contacts... as a disclaimer, I am not familiar with your culture or education system-please take all my thoughts with a grain of salt, and use what you can!
