Looking for language acquisition software for mac?
I want to learn SPanish and French, brush up on Russian, and one other language (not sure which one yet...) I heard about rosetta stone but it seems awfully expensive. Is it worth the cost, or is there another program that works just as well? thanks.
Nooooo! Don't use Rosetta stone! It's terrible. Picture this:
You see a picture of a young girl walking in a park. She has an umbrella. Underneath is the caption "wakai". (This example is from Rosetta Stone Japanese, but the principle is the same) What does "wakai" mean? Park? Girl? Young girl? Walking? Person with an umbrella? Rosetta doesn't elaborate, but you, the learner are meant to just "absorb" the language.
I got frustrated with Rosetta Stone after half an hour. Most annoying was the game show like buzzer that kept going off whenever I got something wrong.
I've been listening to http://www.spanishpod101.com and I've found them much better than Rosetta stone. They offer free daily lessons in mp3 format. I'm learning so much more there than Rosetta Stone ever could have taught me.
Rosetta Stone was like an annoying video game and SpanishPod is like a good book.

well i think i deleted acquisition by mistake becouse when i clicked on it on my desktop it showed a question mark over it(?)i dont no wy though.
just wondering how do i download acquisition the free one? every time i try and find it,i always seem to down load the new veriosn which you have to pay for.
or are they anyother free music download place yoy can use with mac?
