Questions & Answers
How do I eliminate adaware from my computer? I'm tormented by promotions for ringtones and computers plus some sex stuff.
I have AVG free edition which recognises the virus but tells me that it can't be healed.
It's becoming a pain. Thanks
Try these two software programs. I run them on all my computers. Both are free and widely used. Check the reviews.
Can I use all 4 of these in my computer? My laptop's new. Can i install avg antivirus, spybot search and destroy, adaware free edition and pctools firewall, all at the same time? By the information I got from this site, this is ths best. Will all 4 not cancel each other? thnx for the info
Yes, you can use them all. You can have as many anti-spyware (i.e. adaware, spybot, hijack this) as you want, but only one antivirus (avg, norton, mcaffe) and only one firewall.
AVG Free Edition finds Worm/Autoit.FB & can't fix???? "While opening file C:Program Files(Hundreds of options given individually all ending in .exe )
Virus identified Worm/Autoit.FB
Choices given are ignore/info/ heal or move to vault (but you'd know that if answering this question.
A few days back, I healed over a hundred of these pop up windows, but admit I gave up and it's back again.
Surely by healing a worm, the problem shouldn't have re appeared, especially in so many files that I rarely use, or is AVG not worth it's salt?
I also use Spybot on occasion, and used to use AdAware until it was no longer for the UK market.
Any suggestions please would be much appreciated.
Norton and McAfee have caused me to kill two computers already (literally) and I can't afford another one.
Thanks.
The Worm/Autoit virus is one that attaches itself to exe files. If your computer gets infected, it will not be unusual to see it duplicate itself to dozens, or even hundreds of exe files on your computer. That is how those type of viruses spread.
AVG is a good virus scanner, but if your PC has been infected for a while and it has spread to lots of exe files, each and every one has to be cleaned.
If AVG does not seem to be doing the job, try replacing it with Avast (another good free scanner). But removing the AVG before loading Avast as they will fight each other.
Spybot and Adware will not do anything with the Autoit virus, as they only clean spyware, not viruses.
