How do I get Adaware SE Personal to download updates?
When I open this progam, I am prompted to check for updates as it has been 30plus days since I have last done so.
But when I do, it always tells me that the program could not download the updates. My internet connection is ok as it does not bother other programs.
Updates are no longer available for Ad-Aware SE, BUT go to the link provided, and you can download the update file from there, and there you go back in business, just type in the search bar Ad-Aware, and download the definations file for SE, good luck.,
What can I do about AdAware SE definition updates?
Lavasoft stopped supporting it's SE version of AdAware at the end of December, however definition updates were available for manual downloading and installation on their website. Apparently they have even stopped doing that now. The last functional definition update I downloaded was on May 12th. The last update of May 15 was not functional and when I tried to run AdAware, it said something to the effect that the definitions were corrupted. Since then, no new defs have been offered for the SE version. My computer's OS will nor support the AdAware 2007 version. What can I do now? Why did Lavasoft stop offering even manual updates to SE?

Why will updates not load for Adaware SE Personal?
For the last two times I've gotten ready to run Adaware to check for/remove spyware, I've tried to update the definitions. It will load about 5% then I get the message there was an error downloading the updates. It still functions and finds spyware...

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.
i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.
besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.
