Questions & Answers
Aer Arann Airlines-Buying Ticket Same Day? I am leaving from the US to Dublin arriving at 7:50 AM.
I am heading towards Galway.
Preferably, I would like to hop on a plane to get there but the flights that day are limited.
The earliest flight is at 9am and the following is at 1pm.
I am afraid of booking the 9am flight because of possible delays and also I am not sure how long customs will take (I am only taking a carry-on).
Would it be OK to hold off on booking a flight ahead of time and once I arrive buying a ticket there? Would there be a pricing difference?
Also, depending on how things work out, I may not even go by plane and just rent a car or hop on a train.
The 9am flight is 30 Euro.
The 1pm flight is 70 Euro.
How long does customs in Ireland usually take (if coming from the U.S.A)?
With the tickets so cheap it may be worth buying it in advance as if you miss the plane you will still be able to purchase a standby ticket (which maybe more costly) or even change your mind and hire a car. Maybe consider purchasing a ticket for the 1pm flight. I know this means hanging around for 4 hours (you only have to be at the airport 1hr before) but it would give you time to investigate car hire, not have the stress about possible delays and an hour or two with a coffee and a good book would soon fly by. Good luck and enjoy your trip.
