Questions & Answers
Can i buy an airline ticket from Moscow to Toronto with Aeroflot airline, one week before my departu Unfortutally i dont have a canadian visa yet, and it takes about two weeks before i can get the visa. Aeroflot tickets are nunrefundable so i cannot ask for a refund if i pay the ticket price too early and i don't get the visa afterwards . Also,The reservation expires after three days if you don't pay for the ticket. Anyone ever had an experiance with buying aeroflot tickets than can help me out?
You can buy the ticket on the day of departure if you like. However, it will be very expensive.
Discount fares normally have advance purchase requirements. On most airlines, you will pay a lot of extra money if you can't buy your at least ticket three weeks before you leave.
Is it safe to fly with Russian Aeroflot? I'm a British Asian, and heard about incidents of racial discrimination in Russia. A friend of mine , living in St Petersburg, also told me that many Russians are not friendly with people of colour.
Now I need to fly to South Korea for a business trip. Searching for flights, it turns out Russian Aeroflot has the cheapest fare.
Does anyone have experience flying with this company? Is it good enough in terms of the service and their passengers' attitude.
Their reputation is not great but that is based on the old Aeroflot coming out of the Communist era. Their domestic flights can still be on old Russian aircraft but International flights are on new modern aircraft. They've come a long way in the last few years and are pretty reliable now (they are my company's preffered choice for cargo) and I've flown as a passenger and it was fine - no problem with cabin crew
Moscow is becoming a gateway to Asia with a few airlines coming through it. They are also getting more used to people of colour, but racism towards Asians, mainly migrants from the republics, is a problem. It should be okay if you are stopping over on business. A colleague of mine (who is black) goes out and has no problems.
Check the aircraft type for the flight. It will be an Airbus or MD80, which means its less than 10 years old (probably less).
Don't expect anything to special at the airport though. There's a new terminal being built at Sheremetyevo but the current one is still a bit of a relic from the communist era - Okay though. Don't now about the other one (Domedodovo) but I'd guess Aeroflot goes through SVO for the Asian route
How do Aeroflot keep their planes in the air? Is sellotape a common product used in maintaining planes?
Hi again,
If they're up there a long time it's probably because they've run out of petrol, as for the sellotape the answer is no...but it works on hamsters. (old joke sorry).
P.s
Shouldn't you be doing something womenly at this time, like cooking the tea for instance. (Ouch)
