Reclaiming surety fee from DVLA following car tax fine? (UK)?
Hi was fined £80 for untaxed car. Paid fine. Had to pay 'surety fee' of £120 which apparently is refunded once "tax disc is produced". Nearest local office is 15 miles away with no bus service and 7 miles from nearest rail station and car in question is broken down. Before I phone DVLA's premium rate number does anyone know whether they accept a photocopy by post/fax? Have a feeling they won't to make it extra difficult!
When you buy the road tax DVLA automatically know, so why do you have to prove it?
DVLA have my registration documents for change of address but car tax is due, what do I do?
I need the registration document to get the tax but can't get the tax because the DVLA have the form! Can't get through on the phone to them, anyone have any advise? I don't want to get a fine for out of date tax.
Thanks for the answers but to do it online I need the registration document which the DVLA have.
You should have been sent a reminder notice which you can use instead of your registration , failing that you can tax your car at your nearest area office , the address should be in the phone book
my tax on my car is not stamped and is official from dvla. where do you get it stamped or should it
car tax disc not stamped, should it come stamped from dvla or do i have to go some where else like the post office?
If you receive your tax disc direct from DVLA they are slightly different and have no stamp.
