Why can't I connect to Facebook?
I recently had an argument with someone over the use of Facebook - on Facebook - and he started threatening to "limit my view of [his] profile", which didn't really bother me in the slightest. However, since then I have not been able to connect to Facebook from my home PC, although I can get into it from work and can use all other areas of the web without difficulty.
Is it possible to block an IP address' access to a site? Why else might I be suddenly having problems??
Test your theory by using a proxy server (you can try privoxy and tor, which are free). To see what ip the rest of the world thinks you are using, type "my ip" in google and click the first site. When you use a proxy, you should see a different ip address to your own. See if you can log in to facebook 1. using your ip and 2. using a proxy server. If you find success with 2 but not 1 then conclude that your ip has been blocked by facebook and you should contact an administrator. No one else should be able to block you, if they have it is a security issue for the facebook team
How can i protect myself from people i know on facebook?
I am kind of the minority here, a new college student who doesn't like facebook. Everyone I want to talk to from high school I know how to talk to, and I just see facebook as a way for everyone I didn't get along with to get at me and bother me. What I want to know is there any way I can take things into my own hands and actively stop people I know from using my name on facebook and connecting me to things I have nothing to do with, or doing the same with pictures of me and taking them out of context?
To prevent people from contacting you that you don't want to contact you, you can block those people, it will be an option to the right of their profile badge when you search their name. Also, any evidence of harassment or misuse of your name, you can report. The content will be removed and, if it is serious enough, they will be barred from using Facebook.

Facebook is not really a search engine. Its a communication tool or a friends network.
Myspace and friendfinder are also good tools to find and hook up with friends that you may or may not have communications with.

You can use facebook for commercial purpose. You can use either adds or Pages. Pages or Fan pages are for free but adds aren't
