Questions & Answers
Does anyone work for Foxtons as an estate agent? I am thinking of getting into the trade. I have sales experience and am very career driven. I have run my own business, and am a very mature 23 year old male. What kind of basic can I expect. and whats a realistic commission estimate. I fancy the job but need to make sure i can afford it. thank you so much for your hellp
NO
Does anyone work for foxtons in New Jersey? I've always been interested in selling real estate, but have been apprehensive because of the lack of benefits. Foxtons advertises a $35,000 base salary, company car, cell phone, laptop, and leads. I understand that if they offer this, then the commission end would more than likely be less than a traditional real estate agent. If you work for them, how long have you been in real estate, and how long have you been with them? What is realistic first year income for someone with solid sales skills? If you don't have your real estate license, will they allow you to work while you get it? I have worked my whole life in a commission environment, but have always been given a base salary of at least $35,000 so it interests me as a way to enter the real estate game, and I'd just like some feedback :-)
Myself do not work for foxtons but a women in my real estate class had a job with foxtons upon completion of the class, and the reasons was the benfits you cite above, have not talk to her since the class so I do not know how she likes it
First foxtons offer lower commissions to begin with say 3% vs 6% so right off the bat you will have a lower commission for a sale, maybe 1% of the sale price not sure wouldn't bet a higher commission, in exchanged you get the car and 35K a year while that may not seem much in the over all real estate market in NJ it gives you something
If you where working for a reagular agency in nj you would be most likely independent contractor, reasponsible for your businness cards and advertising of any properties you listed. Hence many first times in RE market not only do not make anything first year, they will loose money becasue of the amount of monies you will spend in advertsing to get your name out to the public
Also it seems many of the other agencies refuse to show there clients foxtons homes becasue of the lower commission, while this is illegal it does go on, so when lisitng a home under foxton chances are you will have a smaller pool of buyers to choose from becasue even thoug the home will be listed in the MLS, other RE will refuse to give that listing to a potential buyer becasue the commission is so low, illegal pratice but no one gets call on the carpet for it
What is the reputation of Foxtons Real Estate in New York? Is it a reputable company? @qaa_question
Call the Better Business Bureau in the city where they are located.
Here you go, I looked them up the National Better Business Bureau register (the link is below) they look pretty clean.
