What should I expect from an interview with the Illinois Department of Corrections?
I have an interview next Friday and I have no idea what to expect. I know that they told me to expect to be there for a minimum of 10 hours. I also know that I am going to have to take a written test and a physical / agility test. What should I do to prepare?
Three examinations are required of all applicants: Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE); the Inmate Disciplinary Report Written Exam (IDR); and the Physical Agility Test (PAT).
1. There will be a written reading comprehension and vocabulary examination(TABE)
2. There will be a Written Examination
This written examination consists of the viewing of a videotaped incident after which the applicant is required to answer 30 multiple choice questions regarding the video.
3. There will be a Physical Agility Test .The test is comprised of four exercises designed to measure an applicant's ability to perform the job duties required of a Correctional Officer Trainee. Applicants must complete all four of the exercises to continue in the screening process. No screening points are awarded for successful completion of the Physical Agility Test.
4. There will be a Oral Interview .Applicants are interviewed by a team of two(2) Department of Corrections officials using a standardized interview questionnaire
How can I file a small claims against the Illinois Department of Corrections?
My brother got out of jail and he wants to file a small claims against the state because he had money in his account that earned interest andthey didnt wana give it to him, they said if he wanted it he had to file a small claims!
Hello Laura. I work for the Department of Corrections in Ohio so I am a little knowledgeable of how the system works. Post an addendum to this letting me know what actually happened or what caused this and maybe I can help other than advising going to small claims court. Filing small claims against a state agency is a long drawn out process that is very difficult. I will check back in a day.

Indiana state jobs are a pain, too. I tried to get on at the state. I've given up. They don't pay that well anyway!
