Questions & Answers
Has anyone here given birth at a Kaiser Permanente hospital? how was your experience?
Yes...and my experience was great...no complaints here ! My daughter is also going to have her baby there in July...I have no worries !
Where was the very 1st Kaiser Permanente Hospital built in California? Was it Richmond,CA or Oakland,CA?
Oakland.
"Kaiser Permanente is the United States' largest integrated health maintenance organization (HMO). In the 1930s and 1940s, Henry Kaiser, chairman of Kaiser Industries, set up a prepaid health plan for the construction, steel-mill and shipyard workers in his employ. These programs evolved into the Kaiser Permanente program which opened to the public in 1945, in Oakland, CA, providing medical care to the public for a prepaid set fee. It now includes offices in California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio, Oregon, Washington, and Washington, DC. Kaiser Permanente comprises Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc., Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, and the Permanente Health Group. Most members join through their employers, with some 8.5 million currently enrolled."
Is Kaiser Permanente an excellent Hospital? If so would you recommend it?
Kaiser was the original 'managed care' provider in the country. I grew up with them. I used to call it "The Kaiser revolving door". In the patient goes, hours of sitting and waiting, a few minutes with a doc, and out the patient goes. With nothing productive happening to improve the patient's health.
I changed to private insurance as an adult. My mother died under Kaiser's care and my elderly father is suffering under their care. Sorry, I do not recommend them. Note: their system REWARDS doctors for NOT treating patients.
Best wishes.
