Kaiser Permanente in WA- Legal Action for negligence?
I am just curious if anyone has had any experience in this, in the states of Washington or Oregon? If so, what steps are needed to take in order to take legal action because of negligence (failure to diagnose/catch a disease/inform the patient about it and treat leading to significant health, emotional and financial loss)? Also, does anyone know of a great lawyer to approach about this? Any information on this topic is appreciated.

I've never tried to sue anyone in the medical field, but I did turn a dentist in once to their medical board. I would think you are trying to do the impossible. Do you realise how much proof you'd need to prove negligance? And you would have to probably get an opinion from another doctor who doesn't work for Kaiser to write a statement assuring that your claim is concrete. But how can you prove it was the result of a doctor from Kaiser, and not someone else? The type of lawyer you'll need would really take the bucks. Unless you can find someone to take it on 'contingency'. That's where they have to win the case, to collect. I have used two attorneys in Portland. And I got the shaft. One was by the name of Carter, and the other is or was out in Aloha. He was also a shyster. These attorneys are in it to win for themselves. In both my cases, I only got my medical expenses covered. Nothing for anything else. And the last one, came after me to pay the doctor that he was supposed to pay out of the money he was to collect for that for me. Anymore, you need an atty. to protect you from an atty. And then hope they will win so you can at least, pay the first ones' bill. I had to include that atty, on a Chapter 13, to get rid of him. Even tho, he was a crook and didn't have it coming to him. So he got paid, twice. How- ever he collected after my Chapter 13. I guess he wrote it off on his taxes in the first place and kept the money anyway. Oh, just remembered the second atty's name, Jenks, but not sure of his first name. Anyway, those are two you don't ever want to use. I wish I could recommend someone good. But frankly, I don't think there is. Try calling Legal Aide and see if they could give you advice over the phone. Or maybe they could refer you to someone who'd take on a big case in the corporate field like that. It might even take one more crooked to win the case. You know they're going to have a trio of attys. on their side. I used the Jenks guy to file against Goodwill, and he didn't even present a good case from my getting hurt on the job. If I hadn't of spoken up I wouldn't have gotten anything. All my atty, did was argue and pick a fight with one of the long haired attys. for Goodwill. And there were other cases against that company from the people I spoke with waiting their turn in court against that same company. So good luck. I hope you can find someone to help you. And WIN!
