making a "@mac.com" e mail?
when I try to make an account on my mac book every time after i put in all the info it says "Trying to log into the .Mac server “mail.mac.com” has failed. Please make sure the username and password are correct. If you continue, you may not be able to receive any email."
So how do I make it????
It depends on your meaning of "make an account". Do you want to sign up for a free trial account or do you already have an account and want to just put the settings in the Apple Mail application?
If you do not yet have an account, just go online to the link below and sign up for an account. If it is a free trial, it will last 60 days and then you either loose it or pay the 99.95 U.S. dollars for a one year account.
If you already have an account, use the second link below to troubleshoot your Mail settings.
is an @mac.com aim screen name also an e-mail address?
Hi, I see someone's aim address on their facebook profile and it is xxxxx@mac.com. Does that mean it is also an e-mail address? I would really like to send this person an e-mail and only have this info. Thanks!
Yep. I personally have one. It's a really nice service, albeit expensive. You got a server to put files on, a photo gallery. web hosting, and a website creation software and tons of other goodies.
I have a new Mac and I cannot set up my e-mail address @mac.com! It doesn't recognize my password!?
It's not the CAPLOCK or NUMLOCK (which I actually don't have on my keyboard), it's that if even if I go to keychain access and change the password, it still doesn'y work!
All new Macs have a place to enter your Dot Mac account info but that doesn't mean you get an account just for buying a new Mac.
Some questions for starters:
Did you buy a Dot Mac account? Did it work at first or never worked? If it never worked, try re-entering not only your password but also your user name. An incorrectly spelled user name will make for a wrong password so you need to be sure both are spelled exaclty perfectly. Be sure the Mail application has the correct outgoing and incoming server addresses. Your help page for all this is at:

If you try all the steps in the help pages, send email (fill in a different email address to get your answer, of course, such as Yahoo or Hotmail) directly through the help page form at:

If you did not pay for a Dot Mac account, did you get a free trial account? Did it expire already? If it is not expired, use the same steps above to try to resolve the issue.
