Questions & Answers

What is the difference between Kelley Blue Book value and NADA guide value?
I have a car that I want to trade in, and it's value is higher in the NADA guide? Should I use this when negotiating with the dealer, or will they not care what NADA says?

I think Kelley is often overpriced and NADA a bit underpriced (except in your case!) so it's best to average the two to get an idea of a car's value. Why not show the dealer the NADA price? You have nothing to lose and it may get you a better price!

What's the difference between Kelley blue book values and NADA guide values for vehicles?
@qaa_question

Two different companies - they each develop their own pricing model. A better bet is Edmunds.com with their true market value. Dealers will advertise below KBB or below NADA. They never advertise below Edmunds because Edmunds does not inflate the pricing like KBB and NADA do in order to favor the dealer.

Does anyone have like a NADA price guide that they don't need anymore?
Hi, Just wondering if anyone has one of these that they don't need anymore. Preferably a relatively recent one, like in the last year or so. We don't need it so much for the prices, as the list of makes, models, etc. I have been looking around for a great list and it ocurred to me that a book like that would be awesome. The thing is, to get it from their site, it is like 70 bucks for a subscription and we only need 1 book. By the way, yes, I have tried consumer reports and they will only give you kind of a teaser of info. and then you have to subscribe to there too. The thing is, I just need a list. So, I figured that I could see if anyone had one just laying around that they don't want anymore. Can't hurt to ask, right?

You can check a local dealership and ask the used car manager for his aged NADA book. Once the new ones are issued, they throw the old ones in the garbage. Good Luck!
