    NIKE+ Calibration (by: PLe1)
It’s been a while since I started the Nike Plus discussion, but now that I’m back on the horse, it’s time to talk calibration. As discussed previously, whether you’re using a SportBand or a Nano and receiver, calibrating the system is ...

I haven't been able to load any of my runs for 3 days. Anyone have an idea what is going on? Nike and Apple haven't been able to give me a clue.

I recently joined a nike plus running challenge, and I suspect that someone is cheating. Is this pos
his stats say he is running 5 miles at a pace of 7.4 minutes a mile. He is 36 years old, overweight ( 5ft 9 240lbs)and never has run before

Yes, as with any digital system there is room for abuse, in this case, cheating. There are files on your iPod's memory that store individual run data. A while back i came across a blog entry that explained how to do it when i was looking for a way to upload without using iTunes. Turns out that both your computer and Nike+ believe the data, and since it originated from the iPod, they can't block or dispute the data, as it would be admitting a failure on their part. However, you do have to be open to the possibility that being a 36yr old, 5'9, 240lbs man doesn't make him unfit! And just cos hes never run before on Nike+, which sure isnt where I started, he may have run recreationally before that. I know a rugby player who's 17 stone/238lbs , 6'2 and runs pretty well. Plus, I'm 6'3, 200 lbs, 12% bodyfat and i curb 6 miles in 7.9 minutes/mile. There ARE big long distance runners out there, we dont all eat steak and lift weights 24/7! And being overweight or underweight isnt a problem at all, everyone has different bodies and therefore to put up that you should be like the average person is absurd, which is why Body Mass Index never works. Being "overfat" is the problem.

    Nike plus?
I already have a pair of Nike plus shoes, got em because of the color. ;) Since I have a Nano, I thought the package they sell for the shoes would be a good thing. Does anyone have this? Does it work, do you like it? I just wonder if this'll do what I want it to. Also, I need to get a new pair of plus shoes to run in but I've discovered I have some lower back pain the day after a run. This could be the shoes. Any suggestions as to what kind to get? Thanks for the help!

I have the Nike+ and got it about a month ago when we got our treadmill. If you're into getting instant feedback, then I suggest you get it. I love my Nike+ and it's really motivated me to run as often as I can and to get these pounds off! It works pretty well. You can calibrate it to your step so it's pretty accurate. While you're running, it shows your distance, time, and pace. After each run, it shows how many calories you've burned, what your average pace was, total time, etc. It even stores your personal bests for certain distances (ex. best mile time). When you plug it into your computer, it uploads your runs onto the Nike+ website. On the website, you can track each run, set personal goals, and join challenges with other runners to stay motivated. As for shoes, I've heard a lot of runners praise the Asics brand shoes. I really like my Everlast shoes though. To help ease the back pain, make sure you stretch before and after running :)
