What does it take to earn the QAA title in retriever trials?
I have never entered a retriever trial, only hunt tests and was curious. What does it take to earn the following titles QAA, FC, AFC? I know you cant enter open trials until your dog is QAA, but not sure what it takes. thanks
QAA-The dog placed first or second in a qualifying division Field Trial or received a Judges Award of Merit placing or better in any amateur or open event and is now able to compete in a Limited Open event (meaning that dogs running in these “Limited” events are restricted to those having obtained QAA status).
AFC-Open to Amateur handlers (non-professional) only.- Win a National Championship Stake, Handled by an Amateur or:
Win 15 points with at least one win of 5 points or better in:
* Open All-Age
* Limited All-Age
* Special All-Age
* Amateur All-Age, Owner handler All-Age or Restricted All-Age Stakes
No more than 5 points may be obtained in trials not open to all breeds of retrievers.
FC-Open to all handlers - professional
and amateur alike. Win a National Championship stake
Win 10 points, with at least 5 points and 1 first place in:
* Open All-Age
* Limited All-Age
* Special All-Age
* Restricted All-Age
No more than 5 points may be obtained in trials not open to all breeds of retrievers.
