Do Qantas domestic airline seats have power points to power my laptop in flight?
Do Qantas domestic airline seats have power points to power my laptop in flight?

Some of their larger planes have them in First and Business class but non have them in coach/economy.

I am interested in a career as a Qantas domestic flight attendant, what should I expect?
I am under the impression that a FA earns about $50k pa. what is the breakdown between allowances and actual pay? Should a new FA expect to spend much time on reserve, or is this evenly spread over the crew rosters? how does the reserve system work?

I have a friend who is a domestic flight attentant and I get paid more than her... and I haven't yet breeched the $50k mark in my salary. It will depend on where with QANTAS you're working - you might work main stream, QANTAS Link or JetStar. There are certain safety standards set by CASA in regards to off-time though (I think from memory she gets 12 hours off before she is legally allowed to get put on another flight if she's had a full day on or something like that. But it's all shift work anyways. Expect it to not be as glamourous as everyone thinks it is - it's you that has to carry the spew bag to the bin if a passanger throws up in a flight and desides to hand it to you... I've heard some funny stories from my friend but also some really disgusting ones (even some scary ones involving people getting taken away by security!) but she's been doing it for years and still loves it so there's gotta be something good in it! :O)

Is Qantas the only foreign airline that operates between two domestic points in the US?
Most of its Sydney to New York flights stop in Los Angeles first. Is there any other foreign airline that operates between two domestic points in the US?

A lot of airlines operate between two domestic points in the US. However, you cannot travel between these two domestic points if you do not have an inbound international connection on that airline. This is called cabotage, an IATA freedom of the air, wherein a carrier of a foreign country operates domestic services in another country. No country permits this as it encroaches on the businesses of its own airlines. For example, China Airlines operates a flight (CI 012) between Anchorage and New York JFK. To take this flight, however, you have to board the plane from Taipei, the origin of the flight. Another example is Eva Air's flight from Seattle to Newark. You have to take the flight from Taipei.
