MY 15 HD 5yr Qhr never lisens to my leg comands help 15 and desperate?
my horse stormy is great young and fun but i never have controll oveer him i am an entermediate ridder and have been ridding before i could walk every time i get on him i have no prob but when ever i wana go in a diferent direction i cant get him 2 respond and right no i cant aford a trainer

So, you are 15 and so is your horse? You don't say how long that you have been riding Stormy, so I am going to bat a little blind here and try to just assume some things are true. I would suggest that you find or make a little pen or enclosure to work him on the ground to teach him some reining lessons...walk, trot, back, turn, things of that nature. I don't know if you have ever lunged him or another horse before, but you can get two lunge lines.(two long pieces of nylon will work) with a snap on one end of them and snap them to the bit of his bridle...run the lines through the stirrups and the one on the off side comes around the butt under the tail and to your hands..there now, you are standing in the middle of the circle with one hand on the left line and the other hand on the right line, along with a lunging whip (the whip is very important. I would suggest that to begin with, just walk quietly and guide him with the lines, no slack, but don't rag on his mouth either. When you turn him, turn him into the wall or fence or where ever you are working him and do it while he is close to the fence...he will have to put his weight back on his haunches to turn around and then just keep him going the other way, being careful to keep the other liine now around his butt like it was before you turned. Use this method and teach him to stop, turn, back, walk and trot...also, at the same time, be consistant with your verbal commands...this will help you immensley get control over him...you need to work him both ways equally...what I mean, go to the left as much as to the right and when you start to ride him again, do it in the same little place and mimic what you had been doing with the long lines...now...do NOT try to neck rein him now, use your reins like you were using your long lines...and be gentle and don't jerk him...when you turn him to the left, cue him with your right leg, and vice versa...I do hope that you are riding with split reins and not barrel racing or round reins...you may even have to try a pair of blunt spurs to reinforce your leg aids when you try to turn him.....try this method and I'm sure that it is going to help you...I can't say much more about your horse as I don't know what bit you are using, how long you have been riding him yourself, or anything like that...good luck and be careful.
