What is the difference between ISO 9001 QMS & CMMi process implementation? Which should one opt A software company wants to implement systems & processes. But is unable to decide as to whether to go in for ISO 9001 or CMMi? How will implementing both help them? What is the difference between them? Which one should it opt for if it's broad objective is in-house systems & externally marketing? Can somebody share their experiences on this?
ISO 9001 is mainly used for process documentation. it mainly helps the organisation by defining all process of the organisation and who is responsible and accoundable for each and the perfomance measures for each activity, it stress on process improvement.
CMMI shows the maturity of the process that is being followed by the organisation. level 0 - the process fails to achieve its objective, 1 - process is adhoc and may not be repetable, 2- repetable process ,etc....
Cmmi implementration will be more costly than iso implemetation due to lesser qualified peolep.
CMMI is mostly used for producing systems like s/w or production. ISO focuses on the whole organisation and not just the production process.
the management should decided its focus.{the whole org or just the production part}
