Questions & Answers
Thinking of taking daughters on an R Family Vacation - need input? I've recently realized that my 8 year old has quite the judgemental streak. I also have a 15 yr old who I had very young, so she was raised around a really diverse group. As I've gotten older, my social network has dwindled to a very small group of people; mainly from work. Point being, my youngest didn't have the benefit of being exposed to different types of people and I think it would do her well to be in an open, friendly environment where she could see firsthand lots of different lifestyles / families. My fear is that she may ask questions that would make others uncomfortable. Please understand, she doesn't have a mean bone in her body and obviously she would be prepped and reminded of her manners. But, she IS only 8. So, would you be offended if a little girl came up and asked you why you are with your partner or something similar? I feel like people take these trips to get away from judgements and explainations... All opinions are welcome and appreciated!
I would Reccomend Cultural and Historic Reinactment Fests; Renn, SCA, Pagan Fests it Gives a Wide Diverse Exposure and the People there are There to Share information About Something that they are Passionate about; so they Don't mind Answering Questions.!
If You spend a little Time With them They may Reveal Who and What they are in thier Other Life Away from the Show; and how that interfaces With thier Cultural Differences.!
As Someone Who has Traveled Thousands of miles and Sold my Crafts at May Types of Fests I always enjoy answering Kids Questions Even When they arn't Exactly Relavant to my Crafts.!
As Far As an 8 yr old Coming up and asking Questions From a Stranger on the Street; that might be uncomfortable For Both Parties and might be alittle more acceptable and Safe Feeling; if you Step up with her and explain yourself to break the Ice.!..
What are great vacation destinations for family's with infants? My husband is currently deployed and will be coming home in November for R&R. We have an infant daughter who will be 1 at that time. Does anyone have any ideas of a great 3-4 day family vacation? I'm not sure where we can go that is warm, relaxing, and baby friendly. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
I'd like to mount a campaign to encourage people not to go anywhere. Travel has become so expensive and unpleasant that it's hard to understand why people don't stay home.
Why are we crowding our highways and airports to get someplace else? Newspapers and magazines are filled with ads trying to get us to travel. They want us to go somewhere - anywhere but home.
Looking for a family vacation to take 2 boys 11 & 8. Love cruises and beach/water. Aug time want hot We love the hot weather and want it to be a vacation for the whole family not just the kids. Need some R&R with my husband too, which is why we love cruises, but can't a find a new place to cruise. Need to watch for weather/rainy seasons etc...
If you're American and used to holidaying in the Caribbean then perhaps a Mediterranean Cruise (http://www.medcruise.com/page.asp?p=1516&l=1) is the answer to give you a change. The cruise ship will have a variety of activities for the family, the weather will be scorching in August and you'll visit countries you might not have seen before.
