The phone has a T Mobile logo and was sent to me by my sister from Seattle Washington State USA.
Unfortunately if you have an American version of the 6101, it most likely has the GSM 900 band replaced with the GSM 850 band for the Americas. If you are using Safaricom, they are primarily GSM 900, and you will just be out of luck with this handset. If you were in an area that had any of the GSM 1800 spectrum, this phone still supports this frequency. Yoyu may want to contact Safaricom and see if they know where their GSM 1800 towers are located.
