What happened in X-FILES between season 5 and 9 (plot summary, please)?
Hi
I've always been a big fan of x-files but i stopped watching the series when duchovny left and i think that was in season 4 or 5 (or even 6? can't remember)
so i never got into it again and now i want to know how everything ends and plan to get the last and final season 9 on DVD. but i need some kind of plot summary to understand what happened. leave out the "single" episodes and just tell me the plot if possible.

ps: a good web resourse will also do it of course!
the tv.com episode guide only lists each episode individually. doesn't help much for a "quick" plot summary.

Can anyone give me the basic plot summary for X-Files? Try to answer all the questions below please.
Basically I know that Molder and Skully were searching for etraterrestial life, and most episodes also had a sub-plot. But how did it end up?
What was up with molder and skully leaving?
Who were the new people?
How did the series end?
With mulder leaving it was because David Duchovny was sick of doing the xfiles and wanted something different...The new characters that were introduced was to give the show some depth to prove the show wasn't about mulder and scully's chemistry. So enter Special Agent John Doggett and Monica Reyes. Scully's character meanwhile got pushed into the background.
The finale meanwhile was one big cluster...scully's character winds up pregnant with mulder's super baby and mulder ends up on the run...later he's caught by the big super soldier freak that beats the crap out of him and he gets tossed in jail then its a race to save him which only leads with the gang busting him out of jail...mulder and scully head to nevada. skinner gets his butt chewed and almost killed...doggett and reyes destroy all the xfiles.
mulder and scully reach nevada where they run into the cigarrette smoking man and its revealed mulder is really his son..blah.blah blah so then everyone shows and warns bad guys are on way and csm really gets killed this time.
Mulder and scully no longer work for the fbi and are now paranormal investigators on their own terms and the final alien attack is suppose to take place in 2012...
they're a lot of unanswered questions still...carter wanted to make more xfiles movies in the long run but nothing so far.
