My girlfriend has Sirius, and I think the question comes down to this: if you can take advantage of no commercials, you will use it frequently, and are not the type of person that wants to handle their own music (with mp3). I think some people are more suited with an Ipod, where we build our vast music collections, while others are happy with having a random choice within a particular genre. That part is just your musical preference. If that's you, go for it, and do your research to the player you're getting - I would advise towards cnet.com and amazon.com (both, for an editorial point of view and the practical point of view). Good luck.
If XM satellite Radio and SIRIUS satellite radio merge together would I be able to listen to both of
I am currently a SIRIUS subscriber from Detroit, Michigan.
If SIRIUS and XM merge together would I be able to go to the store and buy an XM receiver and have it activated and be able to listen to XM on my XM receiver and listen to SIRIUS on my SIRIUS receiver and still pay the subscription price of $12.95 per month for both services combined together?
One of the things promised by Sirius boss Mel Karmazin (who will undoubtedly end up as CEO of the merged company) is a special deal where you'd be able to select your favorite 50 stations from each service and only pay $6.99 per month for that new plan. Or keep the full service for about $13 (what you are paying now). There will also be other deals. Plus, all the sports will be available, so you don't have to choose which service to get based on whether you like football or baseball - you'll have it all: pro and NCAA.
To do what you propose in your question - at least in the beginning - would be about $26/mo ;<)
